The other reviews that say the clock is finicky and shouldn’t be played with, are exactly true. You have to turn the dial all the way around the clock, and then set the duration you want. Well naturally it’s impossible to keep it visible to the kids but their hands off it, 100% of the time. So since they’ve been turning the dial on their own, it doesn’t really work anymore. It often just sits and doesn’t count down. Otherwise, my son loved it. He always used to scream and throw tantrums and be so upset when it was time to change activities and go do something, if it wasn’t something that interested him i.e. bath time, bed time, dinner time, etc..With the timer, where he could visually see how much time was left, changing activities really wasn’t an issue anymore. I’d be clear about the time left, I’d set the clock, I’d tell him when it ran out & the blue was all gone (we got the circle one with the blue timer), it was time to do ____ (insert activity here). He’d nod and say “okay,” and then sure enough when the timer went off, he’d agreeably and happily change activities. I’d even use the timer to show him how much time he had left to do something, if we were running behind. Instead of trying to explain to a 2 year old why we have 5 minutes to put on our shoes and get out the door for an appointment, I’d set the timer for 4 minutes and hype him up, saying “oh my goodness!! We have only this much time left, 4 minutes, to get our shoes on and race out the door!!” Worked like a charm nearly every time.In all: excellent for kids, even used it for myself to give me a visual on how much time I’d spent cleaning, I love the kick stand AND the magnet, but it’s finicky so don’t play with it like a toy, nor let the kids play with it like a toy.I've always been easily distracted and running late, and at age 70 discovered that I have ADHD. So ... TIMERS! I use these in the kitchen and bathroom as they are easily seen from across the room. I like that I can adjust the volume. On the loud setting I can hear them while in the shower or washing dishes. The down side of that is that if the room is quiet and I'm nearby, I jump out of my skin when they complete, so I try to keep that in mind when I set them. They work reliably and well. There are no click stops for minutes so the setting is always approximate, but I've found them to be sufficiently consistent for my 3-minute eggs. Two thumbs up.I have had several time timers in my kindergarten classroom. Some require you to turn past a certain point and then back to the time you want. Some are not magnetic. This one is perfect. It has super strong magnets on the back so it does not move. I can just walk up and adjust the time I want and it goes! So easy, so tidy, just perfectI use this for my daughter who will be 2 in December. We use it for screen time, as well as how long I will be doing dishes or a task. It’s really helped with tantrums. I think it works for her age because she can actually see the color going away. Great purchase!I initially got the blue timer because the weird purple color shown in the Amazon pics was so…. weird. Wanted to use it for a sauna timer, and this works great for that (longevity is yet to be seen, but so far so good). It has a pleasant beeping sound when the time is up, which can be made quiet or loud. No sound while it’s running. After the blue one came it was clear on the box the other option is red, not purple—and that made a ton more sense for a sauna. So I bought the red and yes, it’s definitely red, not purple. No idea why that color is shown, but see attached pic for what the real color is. The blue is as shown in the advertising, though.I work with kids, ages 5 to 18, and this really helps with executive functioning skills. I use this to show a kid that we are only doing the worksheet for 10 minutes, and they can see what 10 minutes looks like. I bought 2, so I have each color.I already had a red one and bought this and a blue one so I had three different timers, but this one is also red. I could have found a red one cheaper, so it was disappointing that it wasn’t as pictured in the slightest.Love the magnet. The color. The soft pitch. They sent the wrong colour and it has a loud ticking sound so I'll be returning it. For me, a ticking sound is a deal breaker. Bit disappointed it was advertised as not having a loud ticking sound, definitely does.Would make a good timer if you weren't bothered by the ticking, quite large.I loved this product at first. I used it daily in my classroom on my blackboard. But after a few weeks it stopped working completely. It was treated very gently with only myself using it so I know it hadn't been damaged and new batteries didn't make a difference either. Contacted the company and I will update then. So dissappointed.I love the idea of this timer. I was starting to use it more in our routine, but it has stopped working. I changed the batteries and that hasn't helped. I can turn the dial and I hear it ticking but the timer never goes down anymore. I wish it would have lasted longer. I will not be buying this one again due to longevity issues. I wish I could get a replacement or a refund but I am slightly outside of that window. I don't recommend this item.UPDATE - unfortunately this stopped working for us after a couple of months, forcing me to change my review.ORIGINAL - Perfect for my 7yo and 4yo! Easy to use. No annoying ticking sounds and you can control the alert volume (loud, quiet, or silent alert option). The magnet is very strong. It also has an attached stand. It helps my kids with transitions, keeping on task, to understand how long increments of time are, and they find it fun to use! We used timers on my phone before but having a visual is far better for my kids and they can be more independent. Excelente recurso!
